Tokyo Comedy Bar offers a wide range of opportunities to perform comedy, ranging from introductory workshops, open mics for beginners, Improv workshops and stage time for experienced comedians. Please check the schedule or read the FAQ for the next step in your comedy career. Or sign up for one of our courses - in either English or Japanese. We are actively trying to grow the comedy scene in Tokyo and welcome new people to our community!
OUR COURSES
Introduction to Stand-Up Workshop [ENG]
A 3.5 hrs course designed to get you up on the stage for the first time.
This will run you through the basics of stand-up comedy, will involve exercises to help you write jokes, and will end with doing a small set in front of your classmates. This is in English!

日本語スタンダップコメディ入門
Tokyo Comedy Barでは、これから日本のスタンダップコメディシーンで活躍する新しいコメディアンを育成するためのワークショップを用意しています。
講師はSNSやメディアでもお馴染みの日英バイリンガルコメディアンのBJ Fox!スタンダップコメディの基礎知識からネタ作りまできっちりみっちりと伝えます。コースの最後には実際にステージに立って一緒に受講している仲間の前でネタ披露までチャレンジしていただきます。
初めてスタンダップコメディに挑戦する方、既にやっていてレベルアップのきっかけが欲しい方、是非受講してみてください!

Tokyo Comedy Bar has lots of stand-up comedy shows…but we also love improv!
TCB’s Intro to Improv Course is comprised of three 3-hour workshops that will teach you the fundamentals of improv: what it is, the importance of being attentive and accepting, and how to build performances with your fellow players. The skills practiced in this workshop apply not only to comedy and performance but also public speaking, presentation, working collaboratively, and general soft skills. No previous improv or performance experience required!

Improvisers’ Workshop (Intermediate)
**ONLY THOSE WHO HAVE TAKEN INTRO TO IMPROV ARE ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS COURSE**
In the weekly drop-in intermediate level workshop, improvisers will work on scenes and games that one would typically see in onstage improv performances. The improv fundamentals of being attentive, accepting, and collaborative will form the base of the work that is done in this workshop. Attendees of this workshop may be eligible to perform for TCB’s improv shows if they so choose.
The workshop starts at 11:00AM every Saturday, and runs for 3 hours. Attendees will be expected to have some amount of improv experience.
